La cadena de supermercados Mercadona ha rebajado el precio del aceite de oliva por debajo de 7 euros. Con la rebaja, que incluye las presentaciones de uno y de tres litros, la compañía presiona a todo el sector. El resultado: el mercado del oro liquido se ha empezado a calentar.
La rebaja decidida por la compañía liderada por Juan Roig no solo aplica a dos formatos. La reducción del precio se ha hecho efectiva para las variedades Intenso y Suave. En ambos casos, el precio ha quedado por debajo de los 7 euros. Las rebajas ocurren en un contexto donde el precio no paraba de fluctuar.
En números, desde este miércoles el litro de aceite quedará en 6,95 euros. Así lo confirmaron portavoces oficiales de la empresa, quienes recordaron que la rebaja también aplica para la garrafa de tres litros. Esta ha pasado de costar 22,76 euros a un precio de 19,85 euros.
Fuentes de la compañía también explicaron que, con esta nueva rebaja, han reducido en un 25% el precio del aceite en lo que va de 2024. En este contexto de “guerra” del aceite de oliva, otras grandes cadenas de distribución también han anunciado sus propias rebajas.
La guerra de precios del aceite de oliva que hasta ahora gana Mercadona
De un lado, el precio mayorista del aceite se ha ido relajando por las perspectivas de una venidera mejor campaña. De otro lado, las grandes cadenas de distribución decidieron ajustar sus márgenes. El resultado: la reducción general del precio de un producto que se había encarecido significativamente en el contexto inflacionario.
Tras esta rebaja, Mercadona exhibe el precio de aceite de oliva más competitivo disponible en el mercado. De otro lado, Carrefour tiene el precio promedio por litro más caro, situado en 11,33 euros. Si hablamos de marcas blancas, Supercore dispone de la más cara, con 9,15 euros el litro.
Mercadona demuestra de nuevo su enfoque innegociable en la calidad y el servicio al cliente. Después de aplicar una rebaja de los precios del aceite el pasado mes de febrero, en julio anunciaron una nueva. Con la rebaja de febrero, acumularon la suma de mil productos con rebajas aplicadas desde el comienzo del año.
De acuerdo con declaraciones oficiales del grupo de distribución, las rebajas responden a su compromiso y estrategias de venta; el compromiso ya anunciado de trasladar la bajada de los precios de coste al “precio de venta al público.”
Precio controlado y próximo alimento de la cesta básica
Factores como la caída de las existencias a niveles históricos o la inflación generada a raíz de la guerra en Ucrania generaron un escenario de escalada significativa de los precios del aceite de oliva. Tal escenario ha llevado al Gobierno a mantener en 0% el IVA de este producto hasta final de septiembre.
El plan es, de octubre a diciembre, aplicar un tipo de impuesto al aceite de oliva del 2%. Así, la visión del Gobierno es que para 2025 el producto pase a integrar la cesta de alimentos básicos. En ese contexto, al IVA tendría a partir de ese momento un IVA reducido que nunca sobrepasaría el 4%.
Mientras tanto, es la cadena más grande de España con una cuota de mercado superior al 26%, la que establece el precio más accesible sobre el tradicional alimento. Cabe destacar, que semanas antes de la decisión de Mercadona, la Dirección de Consumo había empezado a recorrer los supermercados para comprobar si estaban aplicando el IVA correcto.
De tal manera, la guerra comercial del aceite de oliva (y del sector alimentos) se recrudece conforme remite la inflación. En un sector donde los márgenes ya son ajustados, la competencia de rebajas tiene a un claro ganador: el consumidor.
