La inversión extranjera en España está experimentando cambios significativos que marcan el panorama económico del país. En el primer semestre de 2024, las cifras revelan una tendencia a la baja. Esta tendencia, aunque moderada, no deja de ser llamativa en un contexto de crecimiento económico general.
Inversión extranjera en España: panorama general
Con 11.762,8 millones de euros captados entre enero y junio, la inversión extranjera en España ha caído un 3,7%. Esto con respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior. Este dato cobra mayor relevancia si consideramos que se suma a una caída previa.
El retroceso del 3,7% en las inversiones foráneas durante la primera mitad del año no es un dato aislado. Representa la continuación de una tendencia que ya se manifestó en 2023, cuando las cifras cayeron de forma más pronunciada. Este descenso sostenido ha llevado a que la inversión actual sea un 15,7% inferior a la registrada hace dos años.
Madrid lidera la captación de inversiones
La Comunidad de Madrid se ha convertido en el epicentro de la inversión extranjera en España. Ha acaparado nada menos que el 67,5% del total nacional. Con 7.940,1 millones de euros captados en el primer semestre, Madrid lidera la tabla. Además, logra un crecimiento del 2,2% respecto al año anterior, nadando a contracorriente de la tendencia nacional. Todo esto según datos del Ministerio de Economía, Comercio y Empresa.
Comparativa entre comunidades autónomas
El contraste entre Madrid y el resto de las comunidades autónomas es notable. Cataluña, tradicionalmente la segunda región en atracción de inversiones, ha logrado captar 1.761,5 millones de euros. Esto es más del doble que en 2023, pero aún así representa una cuarta parte de lo conseguido por Madrid.
Esta brecha se ha ampliado en la última década, debido a la inestabilidad política generada por el proceso independentista catalán. Otras regiones presentan cifras mucho más modestas. Asturias sorprende con 595 millones, seguida por Aragón con 333,3 millones y la Comunidad Valenciana con 325 millones.
Andalucía, pese a su tamaño, solo ha captado 191,9 millones. Es llamativo que nueve comunidades autónomas, en conjunto, apenas suman 290,5 millones de euros en inversiones, lo que pone de manifiesto los desequilibrios territoriales en la atracción de capital extranjero.
Sectores claves para la inversión foránea
El análisis sectorial revela preferencias claras de los inversores extranjeros. El suministro de energía encabeza la lista con inversiones por valor de 1.823,7 millones de euros. Luego están los servicios técnicos de arquitectura e ingeniería, que han atraído 1.708,8 millones.
El sector financiero y de seguros también destaca con 1.558,9 millones, mientras que la ingeniería civil ha captado 1.222,6 millones. Es interesante observar cómo sectores tradicionales como las actividades inmobiliarias (755,3 millones) y el comercio al por mayor (627,5 millones) siguen atrayendo cantidades significativas.
Por otro lado, sectores más modernos como la programación y consultoría informáticas han conseguido 366,5 millones. Esto refleja el creciente interés en la economía digital. En total, una docena de subsectores concentran el 85% de toda la inversión extranjera en España.
Principales países inversores y tendencias
El origen de las inversiones extranjeras en España muestra una clara predominancia europea. Sin embargo, hay una presencia cada vez más fuerte de Estados Unidos. Reino Unido lidera el ranking con 2.459,9 millones de euros, seguido muy de cerca por Estados Unidos con 2.345,9 millones. Francia y Alemania mantienen posiciones importantes con 1.210 y 1.188,8 millones respectivamente.
