La ministra de Trabajo y Economía Social, Yolanda Díaz, planteó recientemente la imposición de un Impuesto sobre el Valor Añadido (IVA) a los servicios sanitarios privados.
Tras la culminación de los Presupuestos Generales del Estado para el año 2025, esta alternativa ha surgido como una opción viable.

Propuesta de Díaz: IVA en sanidad privada y educación
En una reciente rueda de prensa posterior al Consejo de Ministros, la vicepresidenta segunda y ministra de Trabajo, Yolanda Díaz, se pronunció. Destacó que los servicios de sanidad y educación privadas están exentos del IVA, con una tasa del 0%.
Díaz subrayó la importancia de este tema, indicando que no se trata solo de quién paga qué, sino de la naturaleza de los servicios públicos. Anunció que presentarán una propuesta para negociar y llegar a un acuerdo con el PSOE sobre este asunto.
Las declaraciones de Yolanda Díaz sobre un posible aumento del IVA en la sanidad privada han desatado una ola de críticas. Especialmente han alertado sobre las serias repercusiones que esta medida podría tener en el funcionamiento del sistema sanitario.
Postura de la Asociación de Centros y Empresas de Hospitalización Privada de Madrid
Según la ACHPM, un incremento del IVA en la sanidad privada conllevaría un aumento de los costes y, por ende, una mayor presión sobre el sistema público de salud.
La Asociación advirtió que una modificación de este tipo impositivo colocaría a España en una situación desfavorable en comparación con otros países europeos. Quienes han optado por eximir de impuestos a la sanidad y la educación.
También recordó que, la sanidad privada es un motor económico clave para España, que abarca no solo grandes hospitales, sino también pequeñas clínicas y profesionales independientes. Por lo tanto, cualquier medida que afecte negativamente a este sector tendría un impacto directo en el empleo y el sustento de muchas familias.
Declaraciones de Carlos Cuerpo
En primer lugar, el ministro ha señalado que las conversaciones sobre impuestos y gastos deben centrarse en la elaboración de los Presupuestos para el año 2025. Sin embargo, ha propuesto que también se tenga una visión a más largo plazo, de varios años, para negociar con la Comisión Europea según las nuevas normas fiscales.
Ante este escenario, el ministro de Economía ha emitido una resolución definitiva respecto a la propuesta de aplicar el IVA a los servicios educativos y sanidad privada, explicando que:
“Creo que esta propuesta u otras se tienen que discutir precisamente en estos dos marcos, en el marco nacional de la discusión de Presupuestos Generales del Estado, que es el más importante y en el que estamos ahora, y que esperamos terminar en buen puerto y con un acuerdo en los próximos meses».
Asimismo, ante la pregunta sobre la demanda de patronal y sindicatos de indexar los contratos públicos al IPC, Carlos Cuerpo ha respondido puntualmente. Señaló que esta solicitud se ha intensificado tras la reciente crisis inflacionaria.
El ministro ha destacado que esta petición no es exclusiva de España, sino que se ha extendido a nivel internacional. Ha argumentado que la inflación, al elevar significativamente los costes de producción, especialmente en sectores como la energía, ha generado dificultades económicas para las empresas.
Finalmente, el ministro ha justificado la actuación del Gobierno. Señalando que se actualizaron rápidamente todos los contratos de la Administración Pública para ayudar a las empresas a enfrentar la crisis inflacionaria. Además, ha destacado que, según el Banco Central Europeo (BCE), la inflación está empezando a moderarse y se espera que vuelva a los niveles objetivo del 2%.
